First Day of Kindergarten!

Half of Zach's class met yesterday and the other 1/2 met today. Although he was a bear to wake up this morning, he seemed to be a bit more smiley by the time we got to his classroom.

We Love Fifi!

After lunch Kris took a bunch of us bowling (I may put some short video up later), Uncle Lee, Jake, Kev, Logan, Max, Zach and I all had a great time. When we got back the little boys huddled around their Fifi to play with some Disney things on the computer, and after dinner, they played Mario Kart! What a great aunt, and as Max will tell you - she looks so pretty in her crown!

Lunch!

Uncle Lee took the family to brunch this morning at Deer Brook Country Club. It is a buffet with Southern flair - at least I would say that, with collard greens, fried chicken, mac and cheese, and banana pudding! ( Look for more of Deer Brook after 10/20.)

YES!

So.....we never found the tooth, but we think that the Tooth Fairy did, because there were 4 quarters in the bottom of pool this morning!

Can the Tooth Fairy Swim?

We had much drama at our house this morning as Zach was munching on a piece of Italian bread, and his loose tooth became looser and bloody. We got over the drama though, and headed out to the pool with a tooth hanging by a thread (loud screaming was heard anytime Mom or Dad would even pull down the lip to check it). In minutes he was back in the house this time with trauma-drama and blood running down his face. The loose tooth was now at the bottom of the pool. We're pretty sure the fairy will look for it, and even if she can't find it, we are hoping she'll leave a little tooth loot. I never had to answer such questions - does the tooth fairy swim?
Can she see under water? Does she need a mask?.........

Ok - didn't watch Redline - watched The Ex - and pretty much enjoyed it till the end, and it was a great finish (at least I thought so). I also really enjoyed Perfect Stranger. I honestly don't figure out movies before the end - I just don't pay enough attention, so the twists at the end - to me were surprising. Of course for all of you CSI watching intellects, you might be bored.

He's Back!

Not completely 100% and ready for game play - Jake did get into pads, his collar and a helmet today, and he was so HAPPY!!!!! First game of the season is Friday night at Freedom. Jake will not be playing - yet.........

Daddy's Tree

Here in NC we have very pretty flowering trees called Crappe Myrtles (sp?), and Tim wanted one from the get go. So we planted one, and since then she's been thru ice storms and freezing temps after budding,(Mom pruned her back after that)and today, in a drought - she stands as pretty as can be.

Max Around Town.......

........because we have to share. Max took this picture of the sign at Jake's school - we were there because he wanted to switch Spanish for Sign Language and poof it's done!

Alive After Five - Back to School Special

Tonight was the Alive After 5 Back to School shindig. We (Zach, Max and I) arrived as the heaven's openned up. We hung back in Fifi's doorway, and Kev, Kim and Logan packed up and came by us. We waited it out, and music started back up with a Chicago medley of songs, so we headed to the lawn for some evening fun - Logan even won a back pack and a chair!

It took me a little longer this week to get this up. I actually watched all three of these movies this week - and the only one I brought home and didn't get to see was The Lookout. Anyway - I could do without Vacancy. Not a big fan of the horror film scene to begin with. If you're into it, it was suspenseful, frightening because you're stuck in the middle of nowhere - yes....but predictable. I would much rather watch a creep hotel movie like - Identity. Fracture was good. Anthony Hopkins is good at playing mind games and pulls this off decently. Ryan Gosling also did well in his character. Lastly Wild Hogs was fun. There weren't any surprises, if you saw the trailer - middle aged men, looking for adventure, find it, and so on. More than one key/or funny moment - most of the people I talked to really thought that Martin Lawrence or Tim Allen were going to be the funniest guys, but found William H. Macy totally entertaining. Catch them for yourselves this week at your local Blockbuster! :)

I Making Dinner With Daddy!

I was running super late tonight and didn't walk in the door until after 7:30! Jake was snoozing on the couch and Zach in the chair (I found out later that they spent the better part of the day in the pool) and I was greeted with great enthusiasim from Max - who was wide awake, happy I was home and he was "making dinner with Daddy". Yes, my counters are cluttered with Monday mail and apparently I didn't put away the scrubbing bubbles when I cleaned the Kool-Aid stain yesterday.....and the dishes need to be done.....but it's still a great picture! (and our life in our Nutshell) :)

See Ya Later Alligator!

Jake's friend Jake (and Florida Gator fan)left for college today at ASU in Boone, NC. They had a great summer hanging out together - from Kure Beach (the hat picture) to Warped Tour (the picture with Dia from Meg & Dia) to just hanging out at the mall. The whole family will miss having our other Jake around. Good luck at college!~

Happy Summer!

(with my new toy - You Tube!)

Back to School - #1

A couple of weeks ago Target had a bunch of stuff on sale - crayons, pencils, glue sticks, etc. So we stocked up - that should have been Back to School #1 - however, I wasn't thinking. So, today, Bootie and Poppa showed up with Back to School gold!
Zach starts Kindergarten on the 27th, and his hope was to get a Transformer back pack, and hopefully Max will go to Pre-school 2 days a week, and he doesn't need a back pack, but he does need a lunch - so the Captain Jack lunch box was the perfect choice.

Today at Blockbuster

Didn't watch Are We Done Yet? and I Think I Love My Wife. Disturbia was a good movie - it had a nice mix of suspense with a little lightheartness. It moved well too, I hate a movie that drags, and the openning scene, nearly killed me. The boys watched TMNT - oh, and hello - Max did not want me to take it back. I will have to buy that one. Anyone remember Jake's 3rd birthday party - it was all about the Turtles!!!

Jake Update

Just a quick update - Jake went to see Dr. Cox this morning and he looked at the x-rays and the MRI that the hospital took last week. He saw last years bone chip and it has healed - the only thing now is just muscle. Dr. Cox grabbed Jake's neck and I thought he was going to pee himself. So, we go back next Thursday, and until then, it's on with the collar and hopefully quick healing.

Back in Black

To look straight at him you wouldn't think Max is that tan, but when he takes off his swimsuit, you can see just how dark he's getting this summer. This is our "Coppertone Baby" picture. Not to fear, we use a 30 spf, sport style, spray on, water proof, sun screen. (Not like the old days when I would fry myself in baby oil)

Big jake dancing

Jake and Jake were goofing around sometime last week, when they made this video of Jake dancing. Fifi watched it last week and nearly peed her pants. So she offered the Jake with the footage to post it to You Tube for cash dollars - and this is what you get!

Lunch +

Bootie and Poppa promised the boys a trip to Chuch E. Cheese's this summer, so today, when we took the trip to Sports Authority in Gastonia, we also stopped at Books A Million, and then we headed over to the pizza joint. We even got Jake up and moving (but he's pooped now). A fun time was had by all and in the end we traded 700 tickets for 2 dinosaurs and a bunch of junk! :)

Sorry I'm a few days late with this one. Missed Pathfinder, and Firehouse Dog. Watched 15 minutes of 300 - it was not a Kelly movie, but Jake and Tim enjoyed it. Jake liked the way it was filmed. And.......I LOVED HOT FUZZ! I am a huge fan of Shawn of the Dead, and although I didn't like Hot Fuzz as much as a I like Shawn of the Dead, it was just so much better than any comedy I've watched lately - it starts slow, so give it a 1/2 hour or so, but the end pays off.
