Look Mom!
Greatest Treat Festival
Today we headed over to the fairgrounds for another Halloween celebration. This one is put together by the Baptist churches in our area. You enter the fairgrounds, and listen to a short sermon by Pastor Tench of First Baptist - and he explains that Jesus is the Greatest Treat! Then there's blow up amusements, and games, and popcorn and lemonade, and trunk or treat with a bunch of candy. The boys had a good time - here we see them trying their skills at game like Bozo Buckets.

Fall for Shelby
This morning we had the annual Fall for Shelby celebration. The boys dressed up in their costumes, and we headed over to the square. We made luminars, treat bags, craft pictures and painted pumpkins. We also watched a puppet show and afterward Logan had the chicken and Max had the bee - while everyone sang a song. In the end we finished with a parade around the square, where we carried large pictures of animals, both Logan and Max had birds on the end of their sticks.

The Company I Keep
Several of my co-workers were at Kevin's party for various reasons. Matt was the dj. Mark is Mom and Dad's neighbor. Jason (pictured) worked with Kevin at Nordstrom during a sale. And Meghan..........well, she's witty and Kris thought it might be fun to have her around (also pictured). I think this is it for party pics. I had one of me and Kris but screwed it up, so until I get other pics from Mom this will wrap up the party.

Optimus and Jack
My boys are going as Optimus Prime (Zach) and Captain Jack (Max) for Halloween and this past weekend's event, and this up coming weekend's events......they both love their costumes and put up with harassment of being called Captain Tiny Whiny Hiney or Captain Shorty Wet Pants in some circles, and Octopus Prawn. They had a great time at the party, made a new friend and beat everyone to the "Goody Bag Buffet" that Fifi set up for the guests.

Gettin' Ready to Party - Day 2
Max and I worked on more costume adjustments today. Apparently there aren't any big angels, or, they are all just uncomfortable. I added a few inches to my wing bands, and Max tried them on to make sure they were ok - take a good look - Max as an angel is something you rarely see! We also worked on some Southern Banana Pudding for dessert tonight - Max checked it out to make sure it was ok, before serving Bootie's guests.

Getting Ready to Party!
Kevin's 40th birthday is Saturday, and we are having a costume party for him. Mom used to do that back in the day, so we thought it might be fun many years later. We are all working hard on our costumes, whether it's sewing hay to clothes, tracing Tim on a black sheet or shredding a wedding dress, there's never a dull moment. Here my nephew Logan helps us destroy a dress.

Day Trippin' Day 2
Back to Gastonia for us and on to Hobby Lobby yesterday. We were in search of scarecrow makings. Jake's friend Nikki is going to Kevin's party as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, so we had a few characters to choose from and Jake went with the scarecrow. I think we have things that'll work, without being messy like straw. Anyway, after Hobby Lobby we stopped at Steve and Barry's and then Walmart. BUT....it was in between those places that Max enjoyed the most. Poppa stopped at Tony's Ice Cream and Max got his favorite - a vanilla shake!(I even got a sip or two)

First One of 2007
Every year I make 4 pumpkin pies. The first one is Tim's birthday - which, I actually didn't get around to making till yesterday - 2 weeks late. It turned out pretty good, the crust was a touch over cooked, but not bad. Tim prefers this recipe because you use a graham cracker crust. The next one will be for Halloween.

Boo!
To prep for one of our favorite holidays, we visit a bunch of inexpensive stores (Walmart, Dollar Tree) and the boys pick out things they may like to put on the windows or decorate the lawn. So far, they've spent $8.00 and have a pretty good look going. This is how $5.00 was spent - Max picked out the cat windsock, and the big ghost stick, and Zach picked out the 2 smaller sticks, and the pumpkin windsock.(Actual pumpkins belong to Tim)

Swing Break
We ran to Lowe's this morning to grab a couple of cheap bags of mulch, and we spotted some pansies. So, Zach and I picked out some yellow and purple ones and I took a bunch for the flower box, and he took a few for planting - he found his own containers and he used the dirt we had, and made sure they had plenty of water, and he also helped me put some mums in the ground, before taking his swing break.
