So, along with The Eye, and Semi-Pro (leave that one for Jake to watch)I brought home all 3 discs of Weeds. Two and 1/2 down and 1/2 to go..........I think I'll skip cleaning my house today............

First Summer Concert
Thursday was the first Alive After Five concert in our town square. The boys and I met up with Kim, Kevin, and Nikki and Fifi joined us when she got home. The boys were having a good time playing, running around on the lawn and climbing on the steps of the the Historical building. They all wanted shaved ice my boys with blue, Logan with red. Then...........Zach wanted a Coke, and was unable to obtain one - for many reasons - the bottom picture is a Coke meltdown - and in the end, it really doesn't help.

Goodbye For The Summer
All school year long I have had the privilege of reading with Zach's class on Thursday mornings. With only two Thursdays left in the school year - this was my last one. It is amazing to see how they have developed. At the start of the school year, I read to them, now they read to me! How awesome!!! Pictured is the gift they surprised me with, a beautiful flower, and a book with handmade thank you notes from each of the kids!

WOW!
All of a sudden they are all popping! The yellow one is new. The little ones were to heavy for their stem, I had to cut them and bring them inside. The big red one, is one of the ones Dad and I picked up for a two bucks a few years ago, the smaller red was transplanted from the back yard, and the little pink one was a clearance Jackson and Perkin's rose I got at Lowe's for $5.00, 2 years ago! They even smell awesome!

Relay for Life
Last night was the celebration for Relay for Life. It's a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society. I had never been, but Jake has been doing it for years and so has Pastor. We met at 6ish - watched the survior lap, which is such an awesome sight - especially when someone you know is walking! Then we picked up our t's did a lap, shared some dinner, and walked a little bit more. We left around 8, and Jake went back later to watch his friend's band and hang out. Next year, I think we'll aim to get a little set up, and maybe even a tent to stay overnight.

Tuesday's New Releases
![]() |
I haven't written about movies coming out on a Tuesday in a long time! I actually got to watch all 3 big titles coming out this week, Mad Money (cute), Untraceable (like Kevy said - CSI meets Saw) and Great Debaters. I put off watching the last one, in fact I had no interest until they started filming in town with the actor - Nate Parker, who is one of the lead characters in Great Debaters. The movie was decent, it angered me, and moved me, and I think a movie that makes you feel emotions is a good a movie......that being said - rent it Tuesday ONLY at Blockbuster. If you rent a Weinstein title anywhere else, let me know.....these babies are exclusives!!!

Bake Sale!
Flowers For Mom
We took a walk down to the strawberry farm to get a bucket of berries for bake sale goodies. On the way back the boys picked wild flowers for their - Me! Zach prefers the blue corn flowers, while Max likes the basic dandelion. They both let me use some of my vases, and they look pretty where ever I display them.

Happy Mama Llama Day!
There's nothing like great home made gifts from your little men! Max made me the candle holder, and Zach gave me the plant, Tim bought flowers, Jake gave his Mama Llama a hug, and we all went to dinner and had a good time. If you're a mom - hope you had a good day too, if you have a mom, hope you made her day special.

SHELBY - Lights. Camera. Action!
After months of planning, tomorrow is the day. Filming begins bright and early Monday in uptown Shelby for the independent movie, "Blood Done Sign My Name."
Based on Timothy Tyson's 2004 book of the same name, the film will be shot in Cleveland County, Gastonia, Charlotte and Monroe. At the helm of the project is director and Gastonia native Jeb Stuart.
Monday and Tuesday, the location is Central Methodist Church on Marion Street. Wednesday, it's the court square. Thursday, it's Spake Farm on Cherryville Road. And Friday, Legrand and Smith streets will be closed off for filming.
The crew will return next week and use Shelby as a shooting location off-and-on into the first week of June.
While filming is taking place, be prepared to spend a little bit more time in traffic.
"Some patience is the greatest thing we could ask for," Stuart recently told a crowd at Malcolm Brown Auditorium, noting that filming could potentially inconvenience residents trying to get around town. "It's very time consuming to do a movie well."
Tyson's story tells of a killing in Oxford in 1970 and the subsequent racial tension that arose from it.
"This is an honest piece," said Stuart, screenwriter of such films as "Die Hard" and "The Fugitive." "It's a wonderful story of hope."
Here are the areas of town that will be affected. Approximate shooting times are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
