Retro Monday

Back in the day we used to go camping. This is one of those shots of something we did as kids, but will never do again. Fifi looks so happy here! Mention camping to her now though, and it won't be a pleasant conversation. Is that a great sleeping bag or what?

Boy Oh, Boy!

Bootie and Papa had us over for dinner on Sunday night. Kim's sister Sheryl is in town along with Kim's nephew Christian. We actually got all the boys to sit together for a quick pic. Not an easy thing! Christian 6, Zach 6, Logan 3, and Max 4.

Kabob!

This afternoon - Zach was eating grapes with a toothpick -like a shish kabob. So I pulled out marshmallows, catalope, bananas and long skewers and both Max and Zach had a fun making their kabobs. As you can see - Max likes grapes.

Let The Sunshine In!

Tim has the new windo in the boys room in! He and Jake also tore down walls last week, replaced the insulation and put up new drywall. Now it's mudding time!!

A Few More Days!

Crazy?

I rarely go in the "boys" bathroom, except to clean it. Today while I was in there, I picked up one of the books Jake has in there and randomly flipped pages. At the bottom of page 221 - it simple states - "Lonely parrots can go insane." I found that very thought provoking in a odd way and thought I would share that with all of you. It really sheds a new light on talking to yourself - doesn't it? Anyway - my oldest son is still away, and his bathroom is beautiful - he has picked up all of the lighthouses you see on his various travels - many from the Jersey Shore! (I promise, I won't show you my bathroom again)

"Old" Friends

Before Jake left he went through some of the old photo albums we have and found pictures of his 10th birthday. It was the birthday before the birthday when we moved. A lot of the friends he has been finding on myspace, and facebook are in these photos, so I told him I would post them by tomorrow. It was one whole sheet that we printed on regular paper, but you can kind of see things - yes, Jake is the tall one.

Leavin' on a Jet Plane

Jake and Fifi are headed up to NJ for a long weekend. He is dying to see some of his old friends and Fifi's friends Chris, Elsa and Fran - and to just get away from the rest of us! After saying goodbye to Anna, Fifi came and got him - (she's loading his suitcase into the car, behind him)and they will be back on Monday - have fun guys - eat a real bagel for me!

Brotherly Love

I took these to pics at different times on Sunday. The Ty and Jake pic is from the bowling alley, and the Zach and Max pic is afterward, while they hung out on the computer. Zach had his arm around Max till I popped in, then he got the hug. Sometimes - they are such enemies, and other times such friends.

Youth Bowling

After the covered dish, the youth went bowling. I took a lot of pictures of people's backsides - not great blog pics, and the ones of the score board. Yes, my 6year old kicked my butt. To much practice on the Wii for him!

Covered Dish

I'm a little behind. We had to do a return in Gastonia, pick up parts and drop off movies in Gastonia and then drop off more movies in Charlotte, so I didn't get my usual Retro Monday pic up, and I am just so slack on the weekends. Anyway.....

.....Sunday was the covered dish (potluck, hotdish, whatever) at church after services. It's been very hot, so a lot of people thought "salad". I thought, I'm working till midnight on Saturday - gee - Walmart has those big subs for $5.00. Not exactly a hotdish, but they went all the same. Oh yeah - and Max made cupcakes and took the pictures.

That Looks Comfy????

The boys are camping out in the living room again as Tim works on the new window, and their room is in disarray. So, tonight, I walk in at 12:45am and this is what I see. Max's head off the pillow and almost under the couch, while the pillow is under his belly and his butt is way up in the air! I can't imagine that would be comfortable, but he didn't even move while I snapped away.

Rainforest Adventure

The boys went to VBS at Shelby Presbyterian this week, and experienced the Rainforest Adventure. There was snake and spider, and they learned about Jesus and helping people on the earth. Here they were on "the bridge" after having a pizza lunch with the other VBS participants.

Lunch with Logan

After VBS - Fifi took the boys (and Me) out to lunch. Since Logan was the only one NOT to shy away from the camera, it is simply titled "Lunch with Logan".

Retro Monday (on Tuesday)

I just didn't have the energy to post anything last night when I got home - but this morning I have an hour to myself - so here's your Retro Monday pic. In honor of my cousin Mike's birthday this past weekend - I bring you Mike! Kelly, Kevin, Shirl, Lee and Bootie. On our way to Lincoln Park Zoo! (1968)

Zach's Grandma

Bootie and Papa are up in NJ this weekend for a retirement party, so the boys and I are hanging out with Grandma. Today when we picked her up from the Life Enrichment Center, she had her hair all done and earrings on! They had a demonstration today with a lady that makes earrings, and she gave the ladies each a pair. We all agreed that Grandma looked all fancy, so Zach snapped a picture for the blog so everyone could see.

In Memory...

So, the only thing Jake really wanted when he turned 18 was to get a tattoo. Although a number of people had tried to talk him out of it (even very strong willed people) he was pretty much set. So, for better or worse, it's something he's wanted for over a year, it's part of him now. I think that Eric at Shiny New Tattoo here in Shelby did a great job - and I can't wait to go for mine!!!! LOL!!!!

Sunday Dinner

Ok, so it was too hot to cook a Sunday dinner, but calling us "Lazy" was not very nice! Brunch was shared by 12 of us after church - Mom, Dad, Gert, Kev, Logan, Fifi, Jake, Anna, Tim, Zach, Max and me! Good Southern fair - fried chicken, green beans, mac-n-cheese, squash casserole.........

A Splashin Good Time!

It's hot down here in Shelby, NC. We hit 100 degrees yesterday. The best way to cool off - a little Wii in the AC and a dip in the pool! Thanks K & K for inviting us over, and Fifi for the BBQ - it was great day!

Retro Monday

We never get any retro Tim - so here's a taste! (Zach looks so much like Tim!!)

Ye Old Swimmin' Hole

Literally. Last year we had some problems with the liner, because the year before someone put a large hole in the shallow end. We were able to patch it for 2006, but in 2007 it had a slow leak all season long, and we had to keep filling it. So, this year we are putting in a new liner, and while it is out they will check all the pipes too. Of course it's 90 something today.......

Retro Monday

We've got to pee! Dad would wait until he could see it in our eyes - then you had 5 minutes and it was back on the road!
