Desk and Pantry

Tim's been working on the far wall in the kitchen, building the desk and pantry area. It's turning out very nice, and little by little we're getting there.

Yesterday's Project

When Kim and Kevin got a new bed, Jake wanted their old king size mattress. He didn't have a frame to put it on, since his former bed was a queen, so he just threw on the floor and has slept that way for about 2 years now. Yesterday, Tim and Jake changed all that when Tim built Jake a platform for his mattress. Still to come is a bookshelf type headboard, but for now, he's off the floor and his room is looking a little better. :)

Grandma's Special Day

Today was the big celebration day for Grandma's 95th birthday. First was a cake and coffee reception after church and then dinner at Gondola for some family and friends. Here she's taking a few moments to share some words with all of us before dinner.

"Hey, It's Uncle Lee...."

This morning Uncle Lee helped out with the church service. He did the sermon, and gave Grandma communion in the pew, but the highlight was the Children's sermon, as 3 of his special little angels were front and center. (notice the one that's being a little naughty - yes, that's my Max!)

Birthday Girl

Thursday Grandma officially turned 95 years old (50 more than me) - so let the festivities begin! Monday night we all headed to Ham's for some dinner and balloon magic fun, Thursday she took cupcakes to all of her friends at the Life Enrichment center, Friday she put up with us as we made cookies all around her, Tomorrow is the party day. After church there's a coffee hour for all of her Ascension friends, and then at 5pm, we are heading to Gondola for dinner with about 35 family and close friends. As Chelle has been saying all week - do it big, or go home! Tomorrow is big!

Seeing Stars

Yesterday, Fifi, Chelle, Bootie and I spent the morning making star cookies for Grandma's birthday. Who would have thought that such a simple little project would take hours......and hours.....and hours! They look awesome though! Great idea Fifi!

Brrr!

Thursday and Friday the boys were a little cold. Being that they were born down here and have only had a taste of winter, they weren't to sure they liked bundling up. Max was whining - "my clothes hurt me". Good thing they weren't in Chicago this week, where Daddy's side of the family live - they would have had to wear layers of painful clothing!

Orange You Glad!

Tim received a bunch of citrus for Christmas, and we aren't big orange, grapefruit, or tangerine eaters (I am, but even that's in moderation). So, Fifi and I were walking around town yesterday, and we went into the antique shop. I saw a beautiful green glass reamer (what's the fansination?). Anyway, I thought - that would be fun! Even though the boys don't eat oranges, they drink orange juice especially Max! We went into Grandma Smolzer's cabinet and each picked out our own reamer and set to work. The juice is pretty good - Max likes it alot, and we used all the oranges, tangerines and one grapefruit to make it.

Happy New Year!

Last night we headed over to Fifi's to celebrate New Year's. She had a good appetizer spread of wings, and pinwheels, ribs and cheese fondue, everything was super yummy, and the boys had a good time. At midnight, Kev and Nikki finally had a chance to join us, but by then, Max was out, B, P and G had gone to a friends, and so did Jake.
