Yesterday, Kris, Kim, Nikki, Grandma and I headed into the city for lunch at the Melting Pot. It was a charity event for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. If you have never been to the Melting Pot - you really should try it sometime. It is a fondue resturaunt that's not only fun, but quite tasty too. Our meal consisted yesterday of salad, cheese fondue and chocolate fondue. Most of our party went with the House Salad. For cheese we did a cheddar, and then other pot was a blend of Wisconsin cheeses. Dessert - was a chocolate, marshmallow, cookies and cream pot, and a chocolate, carmel, butterscotch liquer, cinnamon pot. They were all fabulous and the company was great as well! (we missed Bootie - but she had prior commitment that she held too)

Pepper's Story
So, on Monday the manager at Papa John's next to my store, told me that she had to call the Humane Society and that they had sent out Animal Control, because someone had left a litter of puppies behind our dumpster. They had picked up 2, but one remain elusive.
Tuesday, I went into work, took the trash to the dumpster out the back door. The door was open maybe 5 minutes. I came back in, ran to the bank, came back, did some stuff on the computer and came out into the dark store, ready to open for the day. What the ???? There were pink M & M's everywhere. I thought a giant rat had gotten into the store. There under a rack of new dvds, sat a little brown puppy. I said "Bad Dog" and she took off, hiding behind the new release wall.
Long story short, I opened the store, Larcus, local tattoo artist and good customer, got the puppy out of our wall. Bernadette, another good customer with dog experience checked her out - she looks healthy, but exclaimed - "she's ugly". Two other customers picked her up, one thought that she would take her home, to be with the other 4 dogs she had........until......Tim stopped by on his lunch, and held her.
Casey disappeared just about a year ago, and new addition has come into the family, as fate would have it. The boys and I named her Pepper, for her dark but multi colored coat. Max told his teacher today, her name is Salt.....More to come, I'm sure.

Birthday Lunch
Fellowship Hour
During Advent and Lent we have Fellowship hour at church after Sunday services. Mom and I volunteered to do this Sunday's Fellowship hour as our church's Thrivent Congregational Co-ordinators. Mom made her famous Irish Soda Bread, and tried my hand at all baked goods green. Pistachio cake, and green Jello poke cupcakes.

Snow Day!!
We have snow! It started Sunday night after a day of rain, so it was a little slick underneath, all the same it was white, and pretty, and the boys were so excited!!! Zach got up early and was running around like a mad man. Max on the other hand waited till afternoon, not really sure what to make of the white stuff. Even though he's 5 - this is his first REAL snow. (you can't count the dustings we get that disappear with first sun, or the stuff that was on the ground when we hit Chicago in 2005) Anyway - they have had 2 days of snow days, and tomorrow is delayed openning (really???) and it's time we said goodbye to snow and hello to school. Oh yeah - temps for the weekend? 70's!
You're Kidding Right?
We had snow on Sunday night, and it wasn't bad, but if you live here, you don't really plan on it. You don't grow up learning how to drive in it either. This is Mark's car - the Explorer, in the middle of our parking lot, where he got stuck in snow. Don't laugh - it's starting to melt in this picture...........
