Vegas Food - 3/21

Lunch was at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill. It was spicy and sweet and yummy. We started with shrimp and corn tamales, and chicken and black bean quesadillas. Then for our meals, Chelle had the chicken and sweet potato hash, Fifi had the Cuban Burger, and I had the cornmeal crusted chile rellano - so good...........

So we won a little lost a little as far as money goes, but as far as memories go - we won a whole lot!!!

Breakfast was simple - some starch and a drink - Fifi had cereal, Chelle had a croissant and I enjoyed a bagel.

And So It Goes..........

Sorry, the weekend is rarely good for blogging........anyway, we wrapped up our trip to Vegas on Friday 3/21. We had a light breakfast at our hotel, and then we packed up our crap and had the hotel hold it till later that day. We took a cab down to Caesars, and walked through the shops, before heading to lunch at Mesa Grill. We then headed over to the Fashion Show Mall and walked around there and checked out the Nordstrom. Afterward, we spent time people watching, and eventually we headed back to our hotel, to get our luggage and head to the airport. Our flights were on time, the one from Las Vegas to Atlanta was holy hell - crowded - a hippy waitress in the sky - who kept bouncing off of the guy across the aisle from Fifi, and then she'd hit Fifi and then I would get bounced........but from Atlanta to Charlotte, there were like 10 people on the plane and it was wonderful - of course, it was the perfect sleeping flight!

Food of Vegas - 3/20

Breakfast was at our buffet - and featured crepes, sausage, quiche, fruit, eggs, the usual. Fifi had a crepe filled with Nutella, and she covered it with fresh sliced bananas - it was so yummy!! Of course I had to have a bear claw too! You know, you would think we would come back heavier, but Fifi lost weight, and I stayed the same, I think it was the walking and NO SNACKING! In the late afternoon we ate the left over steak from the niht before on a baguette with some cheese. It was just enough to tide us over till the tapas bar later that night. We had a pitcher of white sangria and a couple different kinds of a appetizers/finger foods. A really nice variety. Another good choice on Fifi's list.

Vegas Post #5

Our afternoon was so busy - we watched Fifi play with the Blue Man Group, Chelle helped Tiger out on a difficult shot, and I hung out with Master Chief - much to Zach's delight. Really - they're all only wax - but some of the figures really do look life like. Dinner was at Firefly, and we go home tomorrow :(

Last Thursday we ate breakfast at the buffet in our hotel and then we headed down to the Venetian, and the art gallery there. It was awesome. We walked through gazing at Monet, Picasso, Van Gogh and a zillion others, we said "no" to the little speaker phone tour thing, and we weren't sure about the free tour this guide was giving, but we happened upon her talking about one of the first paintings in the gallery, and we were hooked. She spoke so passionately about art that you could feel what the artist was feeling when the paintings were done.

Zumanity

I didn't leave this out. We went and saw Zumanity on Wednesday night. It was very interesting and fun - I will try to get a You Tube video here later this week (their site is under going maintence) till then check it out at their website. www.zumanity.com

Vegas Food - 3/19

Sadly - you will have to check out our dinner place for yourself - at the MGM website. Just look for Craft Steak. Fifi really wanted to go here. I wasn't sure about the prices, but we went with a Chef's choice menu and it was fab and worth every penny. We had 4 appetizers, 3 steaks, 3 sides and 5 desserts for the 3 of us. Nothing overwhelming, flavors not to be believed - highly recommended!

Lunch was at Burger Bar. You pick your burger - beef, turkey, veggie and lamb? maybe, and then you pick your toppings from traditional American cheese to 1/2 lobster. I went with the Kobe beef burger and cheddar, and put my lettuce tomato and onion on top. Fifi did Kobe too, with 2 kinds of cheese and bacon, and Chelle went veggie........of course I ordered onion rings too!

Breakfast was at Planet Hollywood's Planet Dailies. I had the standard bacon and eggs and Fifi and Chelle had French Toast - Fifi's on thick bread, Chelle's on Croissants. A very yummy start to our day.

Vegas Post #4

Wednesday we got up and went to breakfast at Planet Hollywood. We then cabbed it down to Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay with Larry (one of our favorite cab drivers). We lunched at Burger Bar and walked back to our hotel - visiting the lions at MGM, the M & M store, and the Coke store where we sampled soda from around the world.

Their were only 2 flavors we could all agree on - #6 from tray one - Mezzo Mix from Germany, and number one on tray 2 - Kinley Lemon fom Israel, and only one that all 3 of us hated - #4 from tray 2 - Aquarius Citrus from Taiwan, I thought it tasted like deluted Night Quil - then again I spent my whole trip popping cough drops.

Food of Vegas -3/18

Breakfast as I mentioned was at the Bellagio buffet. It was truly a great buffet, they had eggs, scrambled, Florentine, Benedict, potatoes a zillion ways, ham, bacon, sausage - tenderloin (it was like butter) pastries (I got one Bear Claw before they ran out for the day)bagels, lox, white fish, pizza, sorbet, fresh fruit and on.........our waitress was from Wisconsin, and she was very good about keeping our drinks full. No picture of the restaurant at the website, just of some fruit, but check out the virtual tour - www.bellagio.com/restaurants/the-buffet.aspx.

Dinner was at the restaurant pictured above, Mon Ami Gabi, Fifi and I shared some mussels in a bacon, onion broth for starters, with a couple of French Martini's, and then we had steaks while Chelle had this fabulous plate of roasted veggies. For dessert we ordered Profiteroles - there were 3 of them for 3 of us!

Vegas Post #3

Ok, so...a week ago, I woke up and Fifi and Chelle were already up, dressed and down in the casino!!! Sleep is a vacation for me!! Anyway, we headed over the Bellagio for the breakfast buffet - yum!!! Bear claws and blintzes! Afterward, we toured the art gallery, which had some lovely pictures. In the afternoon we attended the Price is Right Live! Our host was the guy from Supermarket Sweep, he seemed lively on stage, but was kind of butt when it came to taking pictures! Still we got some shots in Fifi's camera and my phone. Chelle and I were happy we didn't get called on stage - but sad for Fifi - because she really wanted to play Plinko!!!!

Dinner was at our hotel at Mon Ami Gabi, we sat indoors by an open area, so it felt outdoors - does that make sense? We were able to watch the dancing waters at the Bellagio during dinner. After dinner we headed down to the Pirate Show at Treasure Island - crowded!! Then to the Volcano at the Mirage - under construction! We continued to catch the night sights as we walked back to our hotel. Once we were in our room in our "Pepsi" hotel, we decided to walk across the street to the Bellagio again to get a Coke! That's when we caught sight of the chocolate fountain! Max wanted to know if I licked it!!!

The Food of Vegas - 3/17

Monday's lunch was at the Pyramid Cafe in the Luxor - both Fifi and I had Reuben sandwiches - it was the closest thing on the menu to corned beef and cabbage!

Monday's dinner was at the Golden Nugget - at the Grotto. We just did the appetizer thing, antipasta and calamari, and of course some lovely cheesecake for dessert!

Vegas Post #2

Last Monday - while waiting for Chelle to arrive we hit the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. We had some lunch and toured the aquarium. The fish in the picture kept following Fifi and myself, so I took it's picture!

After Chelle arrived - we headed over the conservatory at the Bellagio - it was done beautifully with a Butterfly theme, and smelled awesome of spring flowers - although it was a little strong.

Vegas Trip Post #1

So, Fifi, Chelle and I left Vegas late Friday night, and returned to our real lives. I will spend the next week giving you a few of my favorite shots. The really good pics are all in Fifi and Chelle's cameras since I was a virgin Vegas goer, I just kind of walked around staring at stuff, forgetting most of the time that I had a camera with me! So Welcome to Vegas - (airport sign) and our hotel for the first shots.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Everyone!!!

Spyware and Other Crap

For those of you who are leaving comments to peddle your own wares and put crap on the family's blog - go away. It's fun to get comments from friends and family across the miles, that's why this baby is here. So knock it off and go bother someone else's blog!!!!!!

Off to Vegas!

Just in case you are looking for me.............I leave for Vegas in just about 12 hours. I am excited and a little freaky - I hate leaving my box. If Fifi brings her lap top I may find a way to load pictures. If not, look here next week, when I will have lots to share.

Egg Hunt!!!

Yesterday was the egg hunt in the square, and all three boys took part. Logan did good and racked in a ton of eggs. Max and Zach need some serious practice at the ole hunting game. A good time was had (except for when I wouldn't let Zach glitter up some eggs)by all.

Chef Jake

When Jake heard I was breading the pork chops, he jumped at the chance to help out. Back in the day, he would help Bootie with the chicken, and this brought back some meomories for him.

The Adventure Brothers!

I'm not really sure what they are up to. I heard yelling, and running, and when I go to the window they were just perched on the retaining wall by Casey's run looking for something. Notice the great way to carry your sword!

Retro Monday

Posted on Tuesday! Sorry guys - I worked from 9 am til 10 pm last night and just didn't get around to posting yesterday. My cold is kicking my butt too! Anyway - think warm thoughts, sunshine, swimming pools - and one of my all time favorite pics!

Yuck!

So, at the beginning of the week, Jake was diagnosed with Bronchitis, and Casey disappeared. Yesterday, Max and I went to the doctor and he has an infection in his eye, throat and ear, and I have something viral, that makes me cough so hard, my ribs hurt, and I can't shake my fever. (Thank you Mike for closing tonight) so Jake's on Z-pack (love it) Max is on Amoxicillin (hate it) and I get cough medicine with codeine - not bad, it just makes me very drowsy. Still no sign of Casey - this week sucks!

Oh Where, Oh Where.........

This is Casey, she is the family dog. She will 7 in June, and we've had her since she was a pup. Last night she got out of her run, and we didn't know it. As far as we can figure she was gone about 4 hours before we went outside to bring her in for the night. Tim scoped the neighborhood last night and this morning. Mom and Dad scoped the neighborhood this afternoon. Fifi, Bootie and Zach hit the Animal Shelter and the Humane Society. No Casey. She doesn't have a tag on her collar, since she's a digger, and has always buried her tags - so, if you read this, and you see her. Please find a way to let me know. She's the only other girl in the house!

Retro Monday

So, Nicole and I were talking about bad bridesmaid dresses - and I was looking for pictures to show her some of my favorites, when I came across this lovely picture. Seeing as it is only two weeks away before these beauties hit the strip - I thought I'd do retro Monday in honor of these party girls.

Fifi's Coffee Shop

Ok, so besides this little blog, I also have a myspace and a facebook. I am additcted to creating these little pieces of land. I know that I should invest in Sims, but then I'd never leave my computer!

Sunday in the Park

Fifi called to let us know that she and Logan were at the park. After wrapping up some loose ends at home, the little boys and I joined them. Max met up with his buddy from school - Grayson, and they played for a long time in the sand, while Fifi, Zach and Logan headed over to the carousel. It was a beautiful day!!!!
